Troublemakers - Bellingham Chapter

Join us

Troublemakers believe in the transformative power of strategic, nonviolent direct action - what the late great John Lewis referred to as “good trouble.” We are an ever-growing network of people committed to taking action in the name of democracy and justice.

Strong relationships are the building block of organizations and social movements. Building and maintaining strong relationships is key to our success, both for our resilience and accountability.

Our strength is in our relationships, and this connection grows stronger the more we make good trouble together.

We also like to have fun. Troublemakers is about community-building as much as it is about taking action.

Why nonviolent direct action?

Because it works. Nonviolent direct action is twice as effective as violent insurrection in overturning anti-democratic, autocratic, dictatorial and oligarchic regimes.

Because nonviolent direct action goes hand in hand with building a cohesive, powerful, multiracial, mutli-generational, cross-class and humanitarian people-powered mass movement.

Because we care. We love our family, friends, neighbors and communities. We cannot passively stand aside while our country's supposed leaders destroy our democracy, jail innocent people, eradicate our rights and destroy our beautiful planet and its biodiversity.

What does it mean to join?

Joining Troublemakers means you will be invited to participate in the various actions and events we either have organized ourselves or are in solidarity with, both in Whatcom County and the Seattle area. We ask that all members commit to participate in at least one action per year. By joining, you are also welcomed into the Bellingham Troublemakers community, where we hold trainings, social events and more. Everyone is welcome. No experience necessary. An open heart and mind and willingness to learn and contribute is all you need. Learn more about the Bellingham chapter of Troublemakers here.
