Bellingham Troublemakers Take to the Streets for No Kings Day 3
March 28, 2026
Thousands of Whatcom County residents led by the Bellingham Troublemakers marched through downtown Bellingham as part of the third national "No Kings" event in support of democracy. The peaceful procession departed to cheers from the crowd at a rally sponsored by Indivisible Bellingham. Traffic control and crowd safety for the unpermitted march was managed by a team of more than 100 trained volunteers serving as peacekeepers, traffic flaggers, and medical support.
Nearly a dozen middle and high school students from several Bellingham schools led the march beneath a 30-square-foot banner reading "Join the Resistance." The procession featured members of local singing groups — including the Good Trouble Resistance Singers and Singing Resistance — who led the crowd in song along the route, while Brasscadia, a local band, played New Orleans-style jazz from the back of a mobile trailer.
As the procession moved through downtown Bellingham, marchers placed signs on the Bank of America and Chase Bank branches reading "This Business Bankrolls Trump." Both banks are major financial supporters of the Trump administration.
Several days prior to the march, a delegation of Bellingham Troublemakers visited the banks and delivered letters addressed to each bank’s CEO. The letter to the Bank of America CEO denounced the bank's so-called "Trump Account" incentive, which pledges $1,000 to every employee who opens such an account blurring the line between corporate employment and political loyalty. The letter to the JPMorgan Chase CEO condemned the bank's connections to Jeffrey Epstein including more than $1.1 billion in suspicious transactions for Jeffrey Epstein over 15 years, including payments related to human trafficking.
As marchers passed the Bellingham Public Library and Whatcom County Courthouse, demonstrators displayed large banners reading "ICE Raids Happen Here" and "ICE Abducted Your Neighbor Here”.
We had 3 tables and numerous volunteers aiding and supporting interested citizens in how to get involved in the battle against the rise of authoritarianism.
